Artist Name:  Nick Edwards

What project(s) are you currently working on?

Right now, it is all about my EP ‘1960’. Thinking back, it’s been over a year in the making, and I feel exceptionally lucky that I have been able to work with such talented musicians from all around the world as part of this record’s journey, including my producer Dan James Smart. He has been so integral to this record and what I’m doing, and is a real part of the show. We are really hoping that people like it and feel the hard work that went into it. I really hope people will see this as my entry into Country Music. Albeit, with my own flare and style. With a growing interest in Country Music in the UK, it is not just artists from America that can ‘kick it’ in Country music. The UK has a really healthy Country music vibe, a real passion, and that is how we hope the EP will be perceived. However, I’m already working on new material and we are back to Nashville in June to start recording some new songs, which should hopefully be out towards the end of the year.

What inspired you to pursue a career in music and when did you know?

I can take it right back to when I was Six. I sang in the church choir and just loved singing. The harmonies that a full choir can bring in a church really hit a chord with me. It all started there.

If you weren’t pursuing a career in music, what would you be doing for a living?

As an independent artist, still hoping for my big break, I have a day job. It is not what burns a fire in me, but we get by.

What is your favorite downtime activity?

My kids. I have four children. Two boys, Jack & Cody, and my two girls, Cali & Savannah. They are my favourite downtime all day long.

Who is your biggest celebrity crush?

Marilyn Monroe. By a Country mile.

Who is your favorite sports team(s)?

I’m not big on sports, although I do watch boxing. I just love that an audience can ‘boo’ someone walking in, and ‘cheer’ them as their walking out, Win, lose or draw. That says a lot about the sport, and about people.

What is the last movie that you watched?

Splash, the 1984 film. We watched it as a family. The Mermaid film with a young Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah. What a great nostalgic film.

What is the last album you listened to?

I love ‘Southern Curiosity’ by Fancy Hagood. He has got a nice soul to his voice, and the record and sound, in general, is fantastic. Its my go-to at the moment.

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I would say ‘The Foundation’ by Zac Brown Band. I love all of the old sounds, and my listening taste is huge, so this is a very very hard thing to answer, but when considering artists of the modern time, this record really changed my life, and really hit deep. I love the harmonies, and all of the songs are great. This was the one record that really ‘nudged’ me to explore Country Music more, and what it eventually led me to really had a huge impact on me.

What is the greatest country song of all time?

Anything by Alan Jackson. Honestly. Look up Country Music in the dictionary. Its just a picture of Alan!

What has been your favorite city/town that you’ve visited out on the road?

My favourite city, for all the right reasons, is Nashville. My favourite state is Texas. Move me to Texas right now, and I’ll be a happy man!

What is your favorite meal?

Easy, Buffalo wings. I travel far and wide for a good wing!

Who is your dream duet partner?

So, so hard. I’d love to perform ‘Wagon Wheel’ on stage with Old Medicine Show. I’d do the high harmony, but there would have to be a reprise.

Who would you like to go on tour with?

So many Artists I couldn’t tell you, but if I had to consider artists touring today, I’m a big fan of Drake White and Drew Holcomb. They always put on great live shows, but I think the ultimate would have to be Luke Combs or Zac Brown Band.

What is your ultimate career goal(s)?

Of course, I eventually want to tour the world with my music, but I’d love to get some recognition for my songwriting. As a songwriter, you often put your heart on a page, so to be honoured for your songwriting would be a great achievement for me.
