Artist Name:  NADRIP
Hometown:  San Marcos, TX

What project(s) are you currently working on?

“Meet Me in Austin” released to Texas regional radio stations today and will release to the public, on streaming sites, etc. in one week – working on a new song “The Lake Isle of Innisfree” which borrows a bit from Yeats – a possible EP is in the works.

What inspired you to pursue a career in music and when did you know?

Speaking solely for myself, after I was honorably discharged from the army, like many soldiers, I had unresolved challenges, but I didn’t know that and I wasn’t ready to face them so I also wasn’t ready for any kind of role that might cause me to have to dig into those things.  I found honest work and did that.  Finally, and fortunately, I was ready to start facing those challenges.  I started writing – stories, poems, whatever.

After awhile, I branched into songwriting as well.  Basically, I now feel like I have something to say and songs are one of the ways I am able to say it.  It’s definitely meaningful and healing to me.  I also hope that and work very hard that it can also be meaningful and healing to others.

If you weren’t pursuing a career in music, what would you be doing for a living?

At this point, I would be and am a writer, currently working on a novel.  In the past I worked in finance.  Before that, I was combat infantry.

What is your favorite downtime activity?

allowing myself to be happy and grateful

Who is your favorite sports team(s)?

Jordan’s Bulls, Staubach’s Cowboys, the current era of Astros/Rangers pro baseball dominance.

What is the last movie that you watched?

Dune 2.  Awesome!  I took my brother to celebrate his birthday (which wasn’t on his birthday but that’s when we celebrated it)

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?

yea, you know I write music, right?  So what are the odds of that happening?  Even if I was on a desert island and just singing the songs to myself in my head, there would be new music!

What is the greatest country song of all time?

I’m working on it!  (I hope)  But, till then, maybe between “Me and Bobby McGee” (which Kris tells us if it sounds like a country song, that’s what it is), “Blind Willie McTell” (again, as Kris said…), or Jeff Buckley’s version of “Hallelujah”.

Who would you like to go on tour with?

The Traveling Wilbury’s (before Roy Orbison died)

What is your ultimate career goal(s)?

to do good, to make a difference (to myself and hopefully to others)
