  • Artist Name: Etan Moses
  • Hometown: Lynnville, IA

What project(s) are you currently working on?

We are currently getting single number two ready while we launch “Country Mile Love.” I am also co-writing with different people in various genres. There is so much that goes into the launch of a song and an artist launch, and there are things that pop up daily for that. I am also working on raising three humans to be good people.

What inspired you to pursue a career in music and when did you know?

Over my lifetime I have enjoyed listening to and singing music, but I did not know this would be a career until some amazing doors opened during quarantine. There is nothing like complete shutdown to get yourself face-to-face with destiny.

If you weren’t pursuing a career in music, what would you be doing for a living?

Momming first, but I have found myself during full-time mom stages knowing there is also more than the title “mom,” even though I take it very seriously. Before music I was volunteering where I could for church and being present for people who needed community and relationship. I would probably be doing even more of that.

What is your favorite downtime activity?

I love to eat. I like to eat with people too. So, a combination of eating and being with friends and family is a favorite thing. I’m a sucker for holidays, especially Christmas. All the quality time (with food) sounds amazing. My husband and I also like to have game nights at our house. We love to laugh with people.

Who is your biggest celebrity crush?

Shemar Moore

Who is your favorite sports team(s)?

Iowa Hawkeyes for college. Got to root for my home state. There are no pro teams there, so I love to watch all professional teams in other sports. I also like to hear backstories about players and follow them. Give me all the NASCAR too.

What is the last movie that you watched?

It is hard to watch movies with kids! We did watch the Amazon Prime series about the All Blacks rugby team and The World’s Toughest Race with Bear Grylls, and I loved those.

What is the last album you listened to?

It has been a long time since I listened to an album in totality, especially with how songs are released these days. The last full album I listened to was Forever Amen by Steffany Gretzinger. A recent country single I downloaded that gives me Eric Church/ Hunter Hayes feels that I love is “Kiss Another Girl” by Makenzie Schriner.

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?

This is so tough. I love music, so this is like asking a parent to choose their favorite child. Maybe one that is timeless and has lots of hits and hidden gems. That describes most of the “greats” though. Alan Jackson, Rascal Flatts, Cold Play, Lecrae, The Belonging, George Strait, The Temptations, The Eagles, etc. all fit the bill. I have too many artists and too many genres. What seems like indecision to others is usually me appreciating many things and being supportive of so many. I’m a “find one good thing in all people” kind of person. Don’t ask me to decide where we’re eating either…

What is the greatest country song of all time?

Maybe “I Will Always Love You” because of the multi-genre success. And Dolly is timeless and underrated as a person, professional and philanthropist. She is amazing.

What has been your favorite city/town that you’ve visited out on the road?

It wasn’t for music, but I loved Siem Reap, Cambodia. The people there have my heart.

What is your favorite meal?

This is going to sound SO midwestern (ha), but I love ranch potato casserole. It is a staple that my mom makes for holidays.

Who is your dream duet partner?

Reba. There are so many I would be so honored and pumped to duet with. There is something about her spirit that draws you in, and then her voice echoes the depth that she carries. She is a legend. It doesn’t hurt that my oldest daughter pretends to be her right now, which is pretty cute.

Who would you like to go on tour with?

Going on tour with someone has the potential to do things for both parties. If we see it as an opportunity to not only sing and play music, but as an opportunity to become better people, then it makes who you tour with even cooler. I would be honored to learn from and grow with so many people. All things aligned and assuming people could and would tour again, my dream tour mates would be Garth and Trisha for an absolute legendary learning opportunity. Their skill and performance quality are out of this world.

What is your ultimate career goal(s)?

It sounds altruistic, but my heart really means it when I say my career goals are often eclipsed by ulterior goals to see people changed and loved. So, my career goals are to do whatever God calls me to do that brings many people success personally and professionally with me.
