We had a chance to ask Texan country star Curtis Braly a few questions as he promotes his new single “Living On Sunshine.”  Check it out below!

1. Your new single is titled “Living on Sunshine.” How’s the feedback been so far on the song?

So far, the fans have really enjoyed the new song. People are always looking for that “feel good” song & this song makes people want to get out & enjoy the summer. If you can find a song that can turn someone’s “bad day” into a “good day”, that’s the key! That’s why I wanted to record it…it made me feel good! Who doesn’t want to get out on a gorgeous day, roll the windows down & live on sunshine? 🙂

2. Are you working on any other projects right now?

Currently I’m preparing for the “All About the Ride” show scheduled in Houston, TX on August 8th. We are down to the final planning & rehearsal stages. This is going to be the biggest production show I’ve ever done & I’m super excited about it!

3. How would you best describe your style of music?

I think I have found a good medium between contemporary country & traditional country. I love a good story telling country song & then if I can put a little contemporary flair in it, hopefully that’ll please more listeners.

4. What are some of the goals you’ve set for yourself in your career?

My biggest goal is to perform with or record a duet with Reba before she decides to announce retirement lol. She claims that retirement is not anywhere in her near future BUT I feel like I better work fast. Also, my most immediate goal is to make Music Row’s Top 40 chart. That would be a great day for me. On top of those goals, my career goal is to just inspire & move people and to help bring people together.

5. What’s been the biggest “Wow” moment in your career so far?

When RWB Vodka approached me last year wanting to endorse me. The fact that a company out there would believe in me & my music so much that they’d risk putting their brand up next to me & invest in my career was so surreal. They have been so helpful & I’m so thankful for the continued love & support they show me. Not to mention, I have an endless supply of ultra-premium vodka at my disposal. HAHAHA

6. Outside of music, what is something that you are really passionate about?

I’m really passionate about bringing awareness to the anti-bullying movement. So many people just don’t understand how bullying can negatively effect someone for life. If I had a magic wand, I’d just want to make everyone show compassion, love & respect for one another.

7. What’s the #1 item on your Bucket List, outside of music?

One thing I’ve always wanted to do is fly in an F-16 Fighter Jet. I got my private pilots license several years ago so I have a big passion for flying. Not to mention, I’m a bit of an adrenaline junkie so at some point in this life…an F-16 is in my future.

8. What would you say are your biggest strengths and weaknesses as an artist?

I’d say my biggest strength is connecting with each member of the audience & showing my gratitude to each fan. I know that I wouldn’t have a career if it weren’t for them.  My biggest weakness is dealing with criticism. Mostly what I get is constructive criticism, but pride sometimes gets in the way. As an artist, we are sometimes set in our ways of how we envision things to turn out & sometimes your team has other plans. So, you have to find that common ground.

9. What is your favorite charity to support?

There’s a couple. “Meningitis Angels” is one charity very near & dear to my heart. I had a good friend lose her 18 year old son to this vaccine-preventable disease simply because she didn’t know there was a vaccine available. Because of their story, I recently recorded a song & released a music video to raise awareness & educate the public on this subject. It’s called “Angel Wings”.

The other charity would be “Stomp Out Bullying.”  As I mentioned earlier, I’d give anything to do away with bullying. As someone who was bullied a lot in school, I know how difficult it is to deal with it in the moment & to then overcome the damage that it causes afterwards. It’s important to educate not only the bully but also the one who’s being bullied to make sure they know it gets better.

10. What advice would you give to an aspiring artist trying to make it in the music business?

Determination is key. You will hear so many times that you don’t have what it takes or that you’re not ready. You’ve gotta go into this business KNOWING that you’re going to make it happen. Confidence is everything. Practice as much as you can & take as many opportunities you can to perform & hone your skill. Don’t give up!

11. Any final thoughts or comments you’d like our readers to know about you or your music?

I’m just a guy that wants to tell a story that many can relate to through my music. I absolutely love being on stage & seeing an audience member smile, laugh or get teary eyed. It’s those moments that you know you are touching someone in a way that only music can. Also, follow me on social media because I love to interact with my fans!
