Robert’s Western World, Nashville’s home of traditional country music, will once again take over Lower Broadway for the 3rd Annual Robert’s Western World Fan Fair on August 3, bringing an all-day celebration of the music that made Music City to the heart of downtown Nashville.
The free, all-ages block party will stretch across Lower Broadway between Fourth and Fifth Avenues just outside the legendary honky-tonk, with live music and special guest performances across two outdoor stages from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. CT. The full lineup will be announced soon, but attendees can expect another stacked day of traditional country, Americana, and honky-tonk from some of the genre’s finest torchbearers.
Now in its third year, Robert’s Western World Fan Fair has quickly become one of Nashville’s most beloved summer traditions, drawing locals and visitors alike for a one-of-a-kind street party dedicated to preserving and celebrating the sounds that built Music City.
In addition to a full day of live performances, Robert’s will offer exclusive commemorative merchandise, while the bar and grill will serve up its world-famous “Recession Special” – a fried bologna sandwich, Lay’s potato chips, a MoonPie, and a cold PBR – still just $6.
Located in Nashville’s historic Lower Broadway district in the shadow of the Ryman Auditorium, Robert’s Western World stands as the last true honky-tonk on a rapidly changing strip. The building has lived many lives over the last century, most notably as the home of the legendary Sho-Bud Steel Guitar Company during country music’s golden era.
Originally opened in the early 1990s by honky-tonk entrepreneur Robert Wayne Moore, Robert’s entered a new chapter on August 5, 1999, when Moore passed the torch to musician JesseLee Jones. In recognition of Jones’ contributions to preserving traditional country music and Nashville’s honky-tonk culture, the State of Tennessee proclaimed August 5 JesseLee Jones Day, while the City of Nashville designated August 5 as Robert’s Western World Day, commemorating the anniversary of Jones taking ownership of the venue in 1999.
Jones, alongside his wife Emily Ann, has spent more than two decades preserving Robert’s singular identity and protecting the traditions of classic country music. While Lower Broadway continues to evolve, the family-owned venue remains a steadfast celebration of the music and culture that made Nashville a global country music destination, now welcoming nearly one million visitors each year.
Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Jones immigrated to the United States in 1984 and eventually made his way to Nashville after a long and unlikely journey. After being discovered by Moore in the mid-1990s, Jones became the leader of Robert’s beloved house band, Brazilbilly, whose high-octane style of traditional country has become synonymous with the venue itself. The band has held court at Robert’s for over three decades, drawing devoted crowds during their alternating Friday through Sunday afternoon appearances.
