Check out our interview with emerging artist Heather Whitney from Newton, TX!

What project(s) are you currently working on?

I currently just cut a new single while in Nashville so working on getting that out. Super excited and stoked about it.

What inspired you to pursue a career in music and when did you know?

I’ve always had a love for music, I just didn’t know how to get my foot in the door. I sang with Johnny Lee one night at my grandpa’s golf tournament and that was like my aha moment. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else for a living. I absolute love preforming.

If you weren’t pursuing a career in music, what would you be doing for a living?

I am currently working on my RN degree. I really love helping people who aren’t capable of doing it themselves. I was always the “mom” of my friends and always took care of the drunk friend. So it’s just one of my callings in life.

What is your favorite downtime activity?

Honestly here lately it’s been watching Netflix. I feel like I’m always on the go so it’s like the only downtime I get and boy I enjoy being lazy sometimes.

Who is your biggest celebrity crush?

Humm. I’ve actually never had a celebrity crush. Idk if That makes me weird lol but I just don’t have one.

Who is your favorite sports team(s)?

I’m a Cowboys fan.

What is the last movie that you watched?

The last movie I watch was “Forever My Girl.”  Was a pretty good one I’d have to say.

What is the last album you listened to?

Well that would be “Moving On” by Heather Whitney.

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Oh wow. The pressure is on, But I’m going with Miranda Lambert’s The Weight of These Wings” – rock solid album.  Absolutely love it.

What is the greatest country song of all time?

That’s a tough one. “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!”  So empowering. Lol

What has been your favorite city/town that you’ve visited out on the road?

I absolute love New York. It’s been the most fascinating to visit.

What is your favorite meal?

Pizza and chocolate milk. I’m weird I know. Lol

Who is your dream duet partner?

George Strait. Holy cow how awesome they would be.

Who would you like to go on tour with?

Cody Johnson, Easton Corbin or Miranda Lambert

What is your ultimate career goal(s)?

To make music that people can relate to and find healing in. All I really care about – the rest is materialistic.

What project(s) are you currently working on?

I am recording songs for an EP release to go with my new single “Fishin”

What inspired you to pursue a career in music and when did you know?

I always have wanted to sing. I came out of the womb anxious to begin my musical journey. Mom let me have voice lessons when I turned 12. I sang amazing grace at my first recital about a month after I started lessons and knew it was my calling.

If you weren’t pursuing a career in music, what would you be doing for a living?

I’m not sure. It’s hard to imagine myself existing without music. I don’t think it would be me… music is such a fundamental part of who I am. My love for God is also a fundamental part of me, so I would probably become a minister if I didn’t pursue music. I have always also been fascinated with music therapy and would love to help children and veterans, but that involves music too.

What is your favorite downtime activity?

Water sports back home in the redneck riviera where I am from!

Who is your biggest celebrity crush?

Don’t laugh but I LOVE Magnum PI, 1980’s Tom Selleck has always had my heart

Who is your favorite sports team(s)?

The San Jose Sharks! Which is mutiny in Nashville but I can’t help myself!

What is the last movie that you watched?

Avengers Infinity War! I watched it because the Guardians of the Galaxy played a huge role in it. I have gotten into the Guardians ever since James Gunn (the author) left my family a note at our spaceship house on Pensacola Beach saying our house was his inspiration.

What is the last album you listened to?

Shania Twain… on repeat… ALWAYS

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Come On Over by Shania it’s Iconic

What is the greatest country song of all time?

There are so many but “I Will Always Love You” by Dolly Parton has to be in the top 3.

What has been your favorite city/town that you’ve visited out on the road?

I sang at Cavernfest last summer in Carlsbad NM… Everyone in that town was so nice and I ended up staying up all night celebrating the 75th birthday of a town elder after our show! It was just a cool place. I will be singing there again in 2018

What is your favorite meal?

Cheese but I have gone vegan… cheese is usually the catalyst for me falling off the healthy wagon because I just can’t stay away, my dad is from Wisconsin so I definitely have the cheese head genes.

Who is your dream duet partner?

Kris Kristofferson… there is so much I respect about him and his music. He is a legend and it would be a dream come true If I could ever sing with him… that would be so crazy.

Who would you like to go on tour with?

Dustin Lynch! He is such a hard worker, he is an incredible performer, and his fans love him fiercely. I think I could learn a lot from being on the road with him.

What is your ultimate career goal(s)?

To touch the hearts of people who need to hear what I am writing. If just one person connects to my music in a transformational way it is worth it. If I can make one person smile instead of cry, or not feel alone in the world then I feel that I am fulfilling my purpose. I believe in Love and I want to spread it.

Check out our interview with new country artist Bria Wilson, who hails from Ponoka in Alberta, Canada!

What project(s) are you currently working on?

I am currently working on getting into a bunch of gigs as well as writing some new songs, so I can get into the studio again.

What inspired you to pursue a career in music and when did you know?

I’ve always had a thing for music and singing. Being in band in middle school, doing vocal lessons, singing in various singing competitions. I also did a bunch of performing for friends and family as a kid. Growing up I always told my mom “When I grow up I’m going to be a famous singer/recording artist.” I never thought a dream as a child would ever come true the way it did! I had inspirations growing up to Shania Twain (my first live concert to go to), Garth Brooks, Toby Keith, and various other artists.  I’ve always wanted to do what they do, because they always look like they’re having so much fun on stage preforming for people.

If you weren’t pursuing a career in music, what would you be doing for a living?

If I wasn’t pursuing a career in music, I would be pursuing a career in nursing. I have about 6 years of disability care experience, and loved every second of it. Helping other people who need it is something I have always been passionate about, and about 3 years ago I decided I wanted to pursue it further.

What is your favorite downtime activity?

In my downtime, I like to do a lot of various things during the seasons.  I love the outdoors, so in the summer you’ll usually find me out by a river, pond or lake with a group of friends fishing, camping or traveling and going on random road trips. Or just out for a walk with my dog. In the winter I like to go snowboarding in the mountains and skating. I also enjoy her various activities with family and friends.

Who is your biggest celebrity crush?

Jensen Ackles! I’ve seen him in a few movies in the past, but I have also been watching the hit television show “Supernatural” since 2005. I’m such a “Dean” girl it’s not even funny, definitely a fandom I’m not ashamed to be part of!

Who is your favorite sports team(s)?

I really only watch hockey. Growing up in Canada hockey is kind of a big deal up here. I’ve always been a huge fan of the Chicago Blackhawks and have recently become a big fan of the Nashville Predators which is now my backup team to cheer for if Chicago isn’t playing.

What is the last movie that you watched?

The entire Harry Potter series! Yet another fandom I grew up on and grew to love! There are so many different life lessons in that show, comedy, emotions and more. Whenever I”m having a difficult day I’ll usually curl up on the couch with my puppy and watch one of the films.

What is the last album you listened to?

Gunslinger by Garth Brooks! It’s also the last album I bought! Usually I listen to my satellite radio over anything though.

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?

The “Cageless” album by Hedley. This is a band I have been a massive supporter of for the last 13 years, and I think I would be happy to listen to this album for the rest of my life if I had too.

What is the greatest country song of all time?

“Standing Outside the Fire” by Garth Brooks. I love the message it sends out to its listeners.

What has been your favorite city/town that you’ve visited out on the road?

Nashville, TN! It’s where my journey in music started and it’s always so great to go back there and remember those times.

What is your favorite meal?

I don’t really have a favourite meal, I guess it just depends what I feeling that day.

Who is your dream duet partner?

Ever since I started my musical journey, I’ve always wanted to write and record with Ed Sheeran! I remember one day I was going through my SnapChat filters and there was one with my “Bitmoji” that had Ed Sheeran singing with his guitar while walking up to me. I ended up sending out a tweet with the video recorded saying “This is the closest I’ll ever get to preforming with Ed Sheeran LOL”

Who would you like to go on tour with?

I would love to go on tour with Kane Brown, Kelsea Ballerini, or Carrie Underwood. I think they would put on an amazing show and it would be a complete honour to open for them!

What is your ultimate career goal(s)?

To get into the studio more and get on tour. I also one day want to start my own charity to help families with children who have disabilities.
