Ben Bostick’s superb musicianship is on full display with this acoustically-driven collection of self-penned and self-produced songs.  It’s a pretty mellow album, so don’t expect any upbeat workout or pavement-pounding road trip tunes to get your blood flowing, but it is a solid collection of music for those that appreciate a stripped down guitar and vocal.

“This record started out as a total bedroom record,” Bostick explained. “I played everything on every track, until I got to the point where the music demanded performances that outstripped my ability on organ and bass.” The musician brought in Luke Miller (keys) and Cory Tramontelli (bass) to freshen up the playing and included his longtime guitar player Kyle LaLone on “The Last Coast.”  “We had played that song live a few times and I loved the melodic chord solo he came up with.”

“The album is divided into two halves,” Bostick explains. “It would be the two sides if it were on vinyl.  The first five songs are from the perspective of disillusioned working men, and then we step into the criminals and sinners section with ‘The Thief’.” This is also the first song on which Bostick used the glockenspiel, which is also in “Wasting Gas” and “If I Were in a Novel.”  “Something about that pure chime gives a song an air of melancholy that fits well on this record.”

The album drops April 24th, so mark your calendar now to download it on release day!

  • Artist Name: Christy P Klotz
  • Hometown: Los Angeles, CA

What project(s) are you currently working on?

I just released my new single, “Jesus Callin.'” It’s a song about my grandma’s life, but it’s really about all of us. It’s the first single from my latest EP. Please go take a listen! I poured my heart and soul into this piece. I also had an awesome producer, Jordan Seah, as well as mixing/mastering with Matt Newman.

What inspired you to pursue a career in music and when did you know?

I’ve always known I love music. I’ve been singing in church choirs since I could walk, and writing songs since I hit junior high school. Music is my first love.

If you weren’t pursuing a career in music, what would you be doing for a living?

I’d probably be a poet, which is a little bit of a cheat since it’s a cousin of songwriting. I love to write. I hope to come out with a book of poems in the next month or two.

What is your favorite downtime activity?

I love going on walks. There is something so calming about it. Plus, it’s good to move!

Who is your biggest celebrity crush?

When I was growing up, it would have been Justin Beiber. Now, I’m just into my husband!

Who is your favorite sports team(s)?

Yikes. I have to be honest, I do not follow sports.

What is the last movie that you watched?

Ratatouille. I seriously love that movie. It’s so funny, and touching.

What is the last album you listened to?

“Lover” Taylor Swift

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Oh no! That would be terrible. I really can’t decide that. I listen to so much music everyday, and many different genres.

What is the greatest country song of all time?

 Jolene – Dolly Parton

What has been your favorite city/town that you’ve visited out on the road?

This isn’t really “out on the road,” but we went to Paris two summers ago, and I fell in love.

What is your favorite meal?

Medium rare steak, white rice, and salad.

Who is your dream duet partner?

 Dolly Parton

Who would you like to go on tour with?

Carrie Underwood

What is your ultimate career goal(s)?

I would love to write and sing music for the world to hear! I want to add some joy, perspective, love, and hope.
