Interview with Ana Cristina Cash

Posted by at 8:28 pm on May 11, 2020
May 112020

Artist Name: Ana Cristina Cash
Hometown: Miami, FL

Tell us about your new project, Shine, and what it means to you?

Shine is my third album recorded in the English language. I have a background in the Latin music industry from when I was signed to the Latin division of Sony Music at the age of 15. Shine was a very collaborative album as far as songwriting goes, and I had a great time writing with several different co-writers for the album. It is a fusion of Pop, Americana, Jazz, and Country. It is produced by my husband, John Carter Cash, and was recorded at the Cash Cabin Studio in Hendersonville, TN. It was mixed and engineered by Chuck Turner. The project means so much to me because it reflects where I am now in my life. I became a wife and mother during the process of recording this album.

What inspired you to pursue a career in music, and when did you know?

I was inspired to sing by watching Disney movies on TV. I later began performing in county fairs, church, and at school from the age of 5 and I began performing on the international hit television show, Sabado Gigante on Univision Network from the age of 6 to 13. I have always loved performing for people since I was a little girl. It is crazy to think that I have been working and in front of a camera since the age of 6. I feel like I grew up quickly in the sense that I had to work in a professional environment with adults from a very early age. I started writing songs at the age of 14.

If you weren’t pursuing a career in music, what would you be doing for a living?

I would be a novelist. I am currently writing a fiction novel. I just love being creative. I also love to help people so I feel that if I wasn’t in the entertainment or literary field, I would have focused on being a health care professional. I am particularly fascinated with how the brain works.

What is your favorite downtime activity?

If I am not active on my Peloton bike, I enjoy a nice picnic with my daughter and husband if the weather is beautiful.

Who is your biggest celebrity crush?

In middle school, I had a massive crush on Jonathan Taylor Thomas.

Who is your favorite sports team(s)?

The Miami Heat and the Nashville Predators.

What is the last movie that you watched?

I rewatched Star Wars: A New Hope for the first time in years.

What is the last album you listened to?

Hotel Costes: The Legacy Collection

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?

“Little Earthquakes” by Tori Amos

What is the greatest country song of all time?

“Friends in Low Places” by Garth Brooks

What has been your favorite city/town that you’ve visited out on the road?

Nice, France. It’s magical.

What is your favorite meal?

I like to make a Cacio e Pepe as my favorite comfort food because it’s simple yet so delicious.

Who is your dream duet partner?

Adele

Who would you like to go on tour with?

Shania Twain

What is your ultimate career goal(s)?

I would love to keep making music for people. I would like to make a jazz album or another album in Spanish someday.
