Interview with Dani Taylor

  • Artist Name: Dani Taylor
  • Hometown: Phoenix, Arizona

What project(s) are you currently working on?

I just finished recording my EP. I am releasing my debut single “Girl Most Likely” on August 28th.

What inspired you to pursue a career in music and when did you know?

I was in a ton of school musicals and talent shows when I was growing up. I then went to high school and lost myself for a bit. But, when I got to college I was watching The Voice and I remember thinking, “I want to be on that show,” and it sparked a fire in me. I realized I missed performing and singing. So the very next day I hired a vocal coach and got back into singing and soon enough started writing songs. I just knew it was what I needed to do. It’s like a fire that sparked in me as a child and nothing could put it out.

If you weren’t pursuing a career in music, what would you be doing for a living?

When I was a kid I wanted to be a doctor or a veterinarian. But thinking about it now, I’d love to be a host of a travel show on the Travel Channel. I love exploring and learning about new places and cultures, and especially trying new foods!

What is your favorite downtime activity?

If I want to relax, Netflix and cuddle with my great dane Patriot. If I have lots of energy, I love going hiking/exploring somewhere I’ve never been to.

Who is your biggest celebrity crush?

I’ve never had a crush on a celebrity. But, I will let you know that The Rock and Arnold Schwarzenegger were my honorary TV dads. I loved watching their movies growing up. I used to dream about them being my dad when I was a kid.

Who is your favorite sports team(s)?

Cardinals, Diamondbacks, The Suns, and The Coyotes. (basically any team from my home state)

What is the last movie that you watched?

Pride and Prejudice. I love Jane Austen and anything historical/romance.

What is the last album you listened to?

I was listening to Dolly Parton’s “Hello, I’m Dolly.” The song “Dumb Blonde” is my favorite.

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I honestly couldn’t choose because my taste in music varies and is all over the place. But If I was forced to at this moment then it would be Kacey Musgraves “Golden Hour.”

What is the greatest country song of all time?

Colder Weather by the Zac Brown Band. I cry every time I hear it.

What has been your favorite city/town that you’ve visited out on the road?

I have to go with my home state of Arizona.

What is your favorite meal?

I have had an obsession with Acai bowls for the last 3 years.

Who is your dream duet partner?

Kane Brown. His voice is amazing!

Who would you like to go on tour with?

Carly Pearce and/or Kelsea Ballerini

What is your ultimate career goal(s)?

Ultimately, I want people to listen to my songs to give them strength on a bad day, to make them smile during a breakup, and to give them hope when they feel run down. That is my ultimate goal to be the voice someone wants to hear after a hard day, or a long day, or a really good day. The idea that someone wants to listen to my music to feel better is the biggest goal I could ever hope to achieve.
