Grammy winning artist Jeannie Seely, with featured guest Tim Atwood, will host the second annual Santa Paws is Coming To Town benefit performance on December 19 on the historical Ernest Tubb Midnite Jamboree at the Texas Troubadour Theatre in Nashville. Guest performances will include Allie Colleen, Michele Capps and Anita Stapleton and several special guests to be announced. The all-star band includes Dug Grieves, Danny Davis, Kenny Sears, Eddie Bayers, Eddie Dunlap and Mike Nobel. The show will be taped live for fans to watch during a live-stream at 2 p.m. CT on the Ernest Tubb Record Shop Facebook page at ernesttubbrecordshops and/or listen to a radio broadcast at midnight on WSM 650 Radio and online here.

Fans are asked to bring food, blankets, animal beds, puppy pads, cat litter, cleaning supplies, pet toys, treats and more to benefit the dogs and cats who find themselves in Nashville animal shelters at the start of a new year. The donations can be dropped off at the Texas Troubadour Theatre 2416 Music Valley Drive Nashville starting December 12 through December 20 from 10am to 5pm CT.

“The response we got last year was so positive, I just knew we had to make this an annual event!! At this time of year we seem to be more aware of those in need in our community and I felt like this was one area being overlooked,” exclaimed Jeannie Seely! “Not only do these wonderful little animals need and deserve attention, so do the wonderful people who care for them! They work so hard and it’s more difficult when you don’t have what you need to work with. It was so rewarding to see their excitement to not only receive the supplies but to know we all appreciate them!”

Tim Atwood shared, “I know these shelters work hard to find forever homes for these animals, and we want these dogs and cats to be comfortable until that day comes. Our dog Jazz came from a shelter. Every time he looks at us, we see unconditional love. Jazz is family.”

  • Artist Name: George Shingleton
  • Hometown: originally from Grafton, WV, now living in Nashville, TN

What project(s) are you currently working on?

My new album, “Out All Nighter,” comes out December 4th, so I’m busy promoting that.  And, we’re actually recording a song for a TV show right now.  I think it airs sometime after the 1st of January, so I can’t really give away too much info yet.

What inspired you to pursue a career in music and when did you know?

I’ve always been involved with music since I was really young. I would say church was the first inspiration. That was where I got involved in it, anyway. When I got older, my wife really encouraged it a lot, and I think that’s when I knew I was supposed to write and play.

If you weren’t pursuing a career in music, what would you be doing for a living?

I would probably still be doing factory work. That’s was the job I had prior to music. I was a third generation line worker at the only factory left in my hometown.

What is your favorite downtime activity?

I love to golf. That’s how I wish I could spend all of my time off. I’m horrible at it, but next to hunting and fishing, it’s the most relaxing for me, and I just enjoy it.

Who is your biggest celebrity crush?

I’m not sure I still have a celebrity crush the older I get, but I’ll say when I was younger, it was absolutely Halle Berry.

Who is your favorite sports team(s)?

Pittsburgh Steelers, without a doubt!

What is the last movie that you watched?

I don’t watch much television, but I’m a huge John Wayne fan, thanks to my Papaw on my mom’s side, and my dad also. Periodically, I will watch one his westerns. This time, it was “Sons of Katie Elder.” That’s the last movie I watched.

What is the last album you listened to?

Albert King with Stevie Ray Vaughan, In Session.

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Guy Clark’s The Essential Guy Clark.

What is the greatest country song of all time?

I’m not sure there is a greatest country song for me, but there’s definitely a few that rate high in my book. “Sunday Morning Coming Down” is up there for sure. Others include “Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain,” “Silver Wings,” and “He Stopped Loving Her Today.” Genius writing, in my opinion.

What has been your favorite city/town that you’ve visited out on the road?

Trinidad, Colorado. I didn’t get to spend much time there, but I feel like it’s been my favorite so far.

What is your favorite meal?

Hands down, my mamma’s lasagna, and homemade Italian bread.

Who is your dream duet partner?

Loretta Lynn or Dolly Parton.

Who would you like to go on tour with?

Willie Nelson. He’s really one of the very last greats who paved the way for all of us other hacks. I’d love to get “On The Road” with him.

What is your ultimate career goal(s)?

I wanna write and play songs that cause people to feel what the song is about. I want them to relate to what I was feeling when the song was written. Yeah, man!
