With a night to kill the day before the 2021 Texas Country Music Awards, I drove out to Midlothian, TX to see David Adam Byrnes perform at The Oasis Bar & Grille.  The venue was quite the place – it was a smoky biker bar in the middle of nowhere in a big converted barn.  When I walked in, a young kid named Hayden Hilliard was performing as the opening act.  He was playing mostly covers, but he clearly has talent.  He reminds me of a young Parker McCollum and is worth keeping an eye on.

After a short break, David Adam Byrnes took the stage.  The Arkansas native intertwined his story about his journey from Nashville to Texas into his set, which was full of his recent #1 Texas hits and then some.  The night was a memorable experience full of great music as I further dove into the Texas Country Music scene.  Here is David’s set list from the show!

  1. Too Much Texas
  2. Old School
  3. Find a Reason Not To (not sure if this is the title, we couldn’t find any info on it)
  4. Tequila Salt and Time

We were in Texas for the 2021 Texas Country Music Awards this past weekend, and were able to take in a Jon Wolfe concert at Billy Bob’s on Friday night.  We were denied entry with our non-professional camera, so the only photos we got were from our phone.  It was still a fun night, with Wolfe at one point offering up $500 worth of his tequila at the bar on a first come, first serve basis.  He also brought out Stoney LaRue to wave to the crowd, who was watching from the side of the stage, but he did not perform at all on this night.

Here is the set list from the great show!

  • Here’s To All My Heroes
  • That’s What I’m Doin’
  • Wait’n on a Dog to Bark
  • Airport Kiss
  • Baby This and Baby That
