Interview with Justine Blanchet

  • Artist Name:  My name is Justine Blanchet!
  • Hometown:  I was born on the South Shore of Montreal, Canada but currently live an hour away in a small town. I split my time between Canada and Nashville.

What project(s) are you currently working on?

I am currently working on an EP set to release in the Spring of 2023. I’ve released a first single called “Hard to Love” and there are more on the way!

What inspired you to pursue a career in music and when did you know?

I decided to pursue a career in music when I was pretty young, and it was mostly out of wanting to do something with my life. People tell me I have an old soul and it kind of make sense because I started dedicating my life to music at 12 years old. Listening to music, especially classical piano tracks, bring me to a place of ultimate peace that I can barely describe. That’s how music makes me feel. During my work day, I can’t listen to music, otherwise I lose my concentration and start singing along.

If you weren’t pursuing a career in music, what would you be doing for a living?

That is a really good question. I would probably direct music videos or work in some interior design type of business.

What is your favorite downtime activity?

I’m a huge fan of movies. I like sleeping a lot, and if I absolutely have nothing to do, I’ll read a book.

Who is your biggest celebrity crush?

That’s a tough one! Right now, I’ve got the biggest crush on Austin Butler, who plays Elvis in that new movie. Highly recommend seeing it.

Who is your favorite sports team(s)?

I like to stay active but don’t play or watch any sports.

What is the last movie that you watched?

The last one in theaters was “Elvis” but the latest one from my living room was “Days of Thunder”, a 1990 Tom Cruise movie.

What is the last album you listened to?

Nat King Cole “Looking Back” on vinyl

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?

The “Elvis’ Christmas Album”

What is the greatest country song of all time?

I think the greatest song of all time is “ Man, I Feel Like a Woman” (Shania Twain). Such a classic!

What has been your favorite city/town that you’ve visited out on the road?

Ashland County, Ohio. Such a cute historic little town with a lot of cobblestones.

What is your favorite meal?

I’d eat Mac & Cheese for the rest of my life if it wasn’t for my lactose sensitivity!

Who is your dream duet partner?

I think Brett Eldredge and I would make a great duet

Who would you like to go on tour with?

I’d love to go out on tour with Mackenzie Porter!

What is your ultimate career goal(s)?

I think I won’t ever be done with this career but I’ll like to make it so I can make a live-able income from my music.
