Artist Name: Leslie Ann Mosier
Hometown:  Murfreesboro, TN

What project(s) are you currently working on?

I am currently writing and performing as much as possible and hope to be back in the studio before too long.

What inspired you to pursue a career in music and when did you know?

I was born into a very talented family, so in some ways it’s just in my DNA. My father was a fairly well known entertainer and radio personality in Nashville in the 60’s and 70’s. My First Grade music teacher picked up on my ability in music class and gave me a solo in our end of the year program. From there, my dad started working with me and would get me up to sing wherever he would play. We also had a recording studio in our house, so I was called upon frequently to sing harmony and record jingles. Unfortunately, my dad died when I was a teenager, but I met a successful songwriter at a Monday open mic night shortly thereafter and began recording his demos. He had cuts with Reba McEntire Con Hunley and several other well known country artists. He was very encouraging and I think that’s when I knew I might just have what it takes.

If you weren’t pursuing a career in music, what would you be doing for a living?

Currently I am  an underwriter for an insurance company in the Nashville area. I don’t know that there’s anything else I would want to do more than music, so I’m just thankful to have a great job that pays the bills.

What is your favorite downtime activity?

When I am not working or performing, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love to support local bands and other artists as well as local karaoke venues. If I’m not doing that, I’m probably at home chilling and watching Netflix

Who is your biggest celebrity crush?

Oh gosh, it would be hard to name just one. My country music crush since the ’90s has been Vince Gill. My pop music crush is Bruno Mars. Both are incredibly talented songwriters and performers with a great sense of humor and they are both easy on the eyes.

Who is your favorite sports team(s)?

I support the Tennessee Titans and Nashville Predators

What is the last movie that you watched?

I streamed a movie at home called “What if it Works?” It’s about a guy with severe OCD and a girl with multiple personalities who find a way to make a relationship work. I liked it because it dealt with real life issues.

What is the last album you listened to?

I don’t know that I have listened to an actual album all the way through in a long time. I am streaming music constantly. I believe it was Alison Krauss and Union Station.

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?

That’s a tough one to answer and I’m probably dating myself here, but it would be a tie between “Sailing” by Christopher Cross and the soundtrack to Urban Cowboy. Those two albums have great tracks, but they include my two favorite songs of all time. “Sailing” is a song I could listen to over and over and I think “Look What You’ve Done to Me” by Boz Scaggs from the Urban cowboy soundtrack, is the most beautiful songs ever recorded.

What is the greatest country song of all time?

I think I would have to say The Dance by Garth Brooks.

What has been your favorite city/town that you’ve visited out on the road?

I have been sticking pretty close to home lately. There’s no place like Nashville!

What is your favorite meal?

I can always go for spaghetti and meat sauce. That’s one of my favorite things to cook and eat

Who is your dream duet partner?

Oh wow! If only Kenny Rogers were still alive. I think he was one of the greatest duet partners of all time!

Who would you like to go on tour with?

You know, I think Keith Urban would be a great artist to tour with.

What is your ultimate career goal(s)?

I would love nothing more than to be able to do what I love on a regular basis, which is write record and perform. I am hoping in the coming months and years, that will become more of a reality.

Interview with Hunter Flanagan

  • Artist Name: Hunter Flanagan
  • Hometown: Bowdon, Georgia

What project(s) are you currently working on?

Writing some new music, mostly getting back into the swing of performing, and hopefully gonna start recording new songs soon!

What inspired you to pursue a career in music and when did you know?

When I was 16 months old I performed all the songs to “the Wizard of Oz” for my family. We all kinda knew I was gonna be a performer then! And it’s always been my “thing” I’ve had hobbies but nothing that I’ve loved more!

If you weren’t pursuing a career in music, what would you be doing for a living?

Well I’m also an actor but if I wasn’t doing either. I assume I’d be working some desk job or something boring. Only other thing I ever showed interest in was maybe the medical field, but I have an existential crisis just trying to find a good place to put a sticker, so medicine wouldn’t have been cut out for me.

What is your favorite downtime activity?

I love going SCUBA diving. Or tending to my bees, and I am a HUGE movie buff. Love watching crime dramas and old horror flicks!

Who is your biggest celebrity crush?

I’ve always had an unhealthy infatuation for Jennifer Anniston. Love everything she’s in and she was my childhood crush. And she just seems like an all around great person

Who is your favorite sports team(s)?

I don’t really keep up with sports. Which has probably ruined my relationship with every male mentor in my life (living in the south and not liking football is practically a sin). But we were huge Jeff Gordon fans growing up. And watching NASCAR races as a kid was the closest I got to sports.

What is the last movie that you watched?

I rewatched John Carpenter’s “The Thing” which is one of my all time favorite movies. The pacing, composition and atmosphere alone elevate that movie to an untouchable level!

What is the last album you listened to?

Been relistening to some Tyler Childers albums. I think the last one I listened to was his “purgatory” album.

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Anything by Old Crow Medicine Show but if I had to choose I’d probably go with their album “Carry Me Back” I am just in love with their mix of classic bluegrass/roots music with a little bit of a modern touch.

What is the greatest country song of all time?

Now that’s a tough question. Anything I say would be wrong! The classic answer is “Call Me By My Name” by David Allen Coe, but any of those old songs that stood the test of time would be the greatest to me. Anything like “Folsom Prison Blues” by Johnny Cash or “The Highwaymen”, or even “Lovesick Blues” or something by Hank sr.

What has been your favorite city/town that you’ve visited out on the road?

I’d either have to say Blue Ridge, Georgia just because it’s beautiful and it’s my home away from home. A lot of people love me there or the shows I did in New Orleans because of the fantastic food!

What is your favorite meal?

I’m a big time adventurous eater. I even make the jokes to people that I survive solely on organ meats and country music. The country in me wants to say a nice cooked ribeye, cooked with butter and garlic, or something simple like mama’s home cooked ham that we fight for every Thanksgiving. But the snob in my would have to say a good lamb chop. With a seared foie Gras.

Who is your dream duet partner?

I mean every country singer would love a duet with miss Dolly Parton! Or a cool guy to do a duo song with would probably be Sturgill Simpson or Billy Strings. Just because that seems like it would be the most fun live performance.

Who would you like to go on tour with?

I feel like going on tour with some of the old school country guys would be fun, Like Willie or Waylon. But if I had to pick a modern musician probably Tyler Childers or Old Crow Medicine Show

What is your ultimate career goal(s)?

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to be famous! But honestly. I’d consider my life fulfilled just as long as I can do this and make a living and keep making people happy with what I do, even if it’s just one person in the crowd I wouldn’t care. I just love doing what I do and getting the great honor of being able to do it full time!

Interview with Edouard Landry

Posted by at 9:10 pm on June 29, 2021
Jun 292021

Artist Name:  Edouard Landry
Hometown:  Sudbury, Ontario, Canada

What project(s) are you currently working on?

I’ve just launched my first English-language album called “Be Here Now”, on June 4, 2021. The album explores themes associated with living in the moment. Aside from that, I recently put the final touches on my next French-language album, to be released either by the end of this year, or early next year.

What inspired you to pursue a career in music and when did you know?

I’ve been surrounded by musicians my entire life. I’m from a large French-Canadian family where pretty much everyone plays a musical instrument. But my first thoughts of joining a band happened in high school. We had music and performance classes, and from there several bands were formed. I joined a few bands and saved my early gig money to buy gear. Started writing around that time and I never really stopped. So, I’ve had the bug since 🙂

I stepped aside for a few years for school, family, career, and that’s when I knew I really wanted to get ‘back into it’. I missed it quite a bit, even though I was in the odd band and/or musical project. I finally decided to refocus on my own music in around 2013/14.

We’ve got a rich and diverse musical scene in Sudbury, and in Franco-Ontario in particular. A lot of support from the get go, and a lot of folks to look up to and get inspiration from.

If you weren’t pursuing a career in music, what would you be doing for a living?

I’ve got a Masters degree in Urban Planning and have been a professional planner for close to 15 years. I carve time away from my evenings, weekends, vacation and lunch hours to work on both the business and musical aspects of my career. It’s been non-stop since 2013.

What is your favorite downtime activity?

I like to write music! But when I need to get away from it, I like to spend time with my family and our two fox terriers, read, go camping, travel, watch films. Painting is something I dabble in – something I’d like to more of over the next few years.

Who is your biggest celebrity crush?

At the moment, I’d have to say Kacey Musgraves. I love her albums, her songwriting and her style. I think she’ll be around for quite some time. Looking forward to her next album!

Who is your favorite sports team(s)?

The Montreal Canadiens. I was raised to be a Habs fan! As I’m writing this, they’re about to play their first game in the third round of the NHL Playoffs. There’s a lot of excitement in the air!

I’m also a Toronto Blue Jays fan, and of baseball in general. Through my travels, I’ve been able to get to many of the major league baseball stadiums. I’m always planning to get to the next stadiums on my list 😉

What is the last movie that you watched?

The last movie I watched was Tenet. I love Christopher Nolan movies, so I had been waiting to watch this one for a while. I must admit I had to rewind a few parts to really understand what was going on. All in all, a good movie that forces you put your phone down to really watch and listen. A great soundtrack too!

What is the last album you listened to?

Shout out to fellow Sudbury musician Julie Katrinette and her album ‘Let’s Not Complicate Things (With Our Minds)’. Her album isn’t out yet, but it’s on my turntable and is the last album I listened to. It’s out across all streaming platforms on July 1 – or on vinyl from her Bandcamp page. A lot of country and folk flavours that I’m sure your readers would enjoy.

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Definitely The Beatles’ White Album. It’s got a range of styles, brilliant songwriting and production. It’s the first Beatles album I got into when I was a teen. I knew the ‘Red’ and ‘Blue’ albums in general (and the radio hits), but the White Album really changed how I listened to and approached music. I don’t think I’ve ever recovered from my first White Album experiences! Haha

What is the greatest country song of all time?

My immediate reaction to this is ‘Crazy’ by Patsy Cline. Her delivery, the emotion, the musical choices, are truly heartfelt and spot on. The song’s now been around for 60 years, so it’s got a lot of community memory, feelings, associations and and experiences wrapped around in it. Plus, I’m a huge Willie Nelson fan and I think it’s one of the best songs he’s ever written.

What has been your favorite city/town that you’ve visited out on the road?

If travel for album/songwriting research counts, then San Francisco. Pre-pandemic, we had the opportunity to visit friends and take in the sights. Fell in love with the golden California light, the streets, the hills, museums, the parks, the Bay, the food, the ocean, the fog…just about everything. It directly inspired “Be Here Now” as well as the next English-language album.

What is your favorite meal?

I do love a medium-rare steak with asparagus and potatoes on the barbecue, with red wine or a hoppy beer.

Who is your dream duet partner?

Tough question! Male: My first reaction to this is Paul Simon. I’ve been obsessed with his solo albums for the past 5-6 years now. Plus, he’s been in a duo before. What can go wrong? 😉

Female: Kacey Musgraves. Celebrity crush aside, I think it would be a great experience!

Who would you like to go on tour with?

Robert Plant. I’ve had the opportunity to see him twice in concert, most recently at Toronto’s Massey Hall with the Space Shifters. I highly recommend listening to his podcast. So many stories and interesting perspectives. Plus, he keeps pushing and exploring new musical territory. I hear he’s got another album coming soon with Alison Krauss! I think it would be a blast to be on tour with him.

What is your ultimate career goal(s)?

My goal thus far has been to have a sustainable music career. If I can keep making and getting music out there, and on my own terms, then I believe I will have succeeded.
