  • Artist Name:  Stu Basham
  • Hometown:  Bend, Oregon

What project(s) are you currently working on?

About to release my new summer single “Sucker for a Good Time” on July 29th.

What inspired you to pursue a career in music and when did you know?

I got a cheap little keyboard for Christmas when I was 4 or 5 and from then on I was hooked on songwriting. That’s all I’ve ever wanted to do and I’ve chased that dream ever since.

If you weren’t pursuing a career in music, what would you be doing for a living?

I’d be flying planes. I got 3 ratings and was on my way to becoming a commercial pilot but decided to focus on music instead of a “Backup plan”.

What is your favorite downtime activity?

I love watching sports/NFL and hanging out with my family

Who is your biggest celebrity crush?

 Don’t have one

Who is your favorite sports team(s)?

 Tennessee Titans

What is the last movie that you watched?

Being the Ricardos (about I Love Lucy)

What is the last album you listened to?

Son of A by Dillon Carmichael

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Dave Matthews Band – Listener Supported (still my favorite album of all time)

What is the greatest country song of all time?

My favorite is “Song for Another Time” by Old Dominion

What has been your favorite city/town that you’ve visited out on the road?

I love Nashville to be honest and that’s why I wanted to call it home. I’ve lived in Oregon, Denver, New York City, and nothing compares to Nashville.

What is your favorite meal?

Anything Seafood

Who is your dream duet partner?

I’d love to collaborate with Luke Combs

Who would you like to go on tour with?

Luke Combs and/or Old Dominion

What is your ultimate career goal(s)?

Eventually playing headlining arena shows but starting small by opening for people and growing my following

STU BASHAM BIO

Stu Basham, aka “Captain Country” is not your typical country guy.

Raised in Oregon, Stu was surrounded by mountains instead of farms, sipped craft beer instead of whiskey, and drove an old Subaru dubbed the “Stubaru” instead of a pickup truck.

Basham was on his way to becoming a commercial pilot, but got tired of working on his “backup plan” and went to pursue his passion for songwriting and performing. The long journey took him to Denver, Colorado, as well as New York City, and now his wheels have touched down in Nashville.

After writing pop songs for most of his life, his country-loving wife turned him on to Rascal Flatts and many other country artists. He was hooked and continued to delve deeper into the genre, finding new inspiration in artists like Luke Combs, Zac Brown Band, and Old Dominion.

His older brother shared Dave Matthews Band with him as a kid and Basham has since mixed that influence with a modern country sound, creating a unique take on country, rock, and jam band music with a heavy focus on lyrics, a staple of the Nashville songwriting scene.

He’s been recognized as One to Watch by NSAI and has had multiple songs recommended to publishers. Stu will be releasing his first country singles in 2022 and will be performing shows in Nashville.
