Artist Name: Gareth Lewis
Hometown: live in Llanelli, originally from Swansea.

What project(s) are you currently working on?

I recorded a new EP earlier this year, and I’m about to release a 3rd single from that called ‘Things you love the most.’ The EP will be released in full in early 2023 and contains 5 tracks in total. I have songs ready for another EP which I’ll start recording very soon.

What inspired you to pursue a career in music and when did you know?

It’s always been my passion since I was young, I was a guitarist in bands for many years, but it wasn’t until I discovered my voice as a writer that I began pursuing it as a career. My songs are mainly about the human condition and the things we find it hardest to talk about. Music has been a real outlet for expressing my emotions, and knowing that other people connect with and take comfort from my songs is what drives me.

If you weren’t pursuing a career in music, what would you be doing for a living?

Well I’ve managed to have a career alongside music for a long time… I work part time for Mind, mental health charity, so if I wasn’t working in music, I’d probably be working full time in that sector. Mental health and raising awareness of the issues and encouraging people to talk about their feelings is another passion.

What is your favorite downtime activity?

Spending time with my family, watching movies, listening to music, and watching Swansea City play! Movies in particular have had a big influence on my songwriting, and I’ve enjoyed introducing my son to classic 80s movies.

Who is your biggest celebrity crush?

Holly Willoughby

Who is your favorite sports team(s)?

Swansea City

What is the last movie that you watched?

The Lost King

What is the last album you listened to?

Dawes – Misadventures of Doomscroller

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Appetite for Destruction – Guns N Roses

What is the greatest country song of all time?

I’m a big fan of classic country so probably Always on my mind, Willie Nelson..

What has been your favorite city/town that you’ve visited out on the road?

Portofino, Italy was the most beautiful, but I’m a big fan of the city of Liverpool and got to play at the Cavern Club which was definitely a box ticked!

What is your favorite meal?

Steak, chips and peppercorn sauce.

Who is your dream duet partner?

Sheryl Crow

Who would you like to go on tour with?

Jason Isbell / Guns N Roses

What is your ultimate career goal(s)?

To have a body of work that I’m proud of and no regrets

What inspired you to pursue a career in music and when did you know?

Seeing my big brother play guitar in 1975. Music has been my passion ever since. The career “lightbulb moment” happened in the Commando Memorial car park in Spean Bridge near Fort William in Scotland, in June 1993 – when I realised I could make a living from playing gigs.

If you weren’t pursuing a career in music, what would you be doing for a living?

Fundraising for charities. I do some of this already and love it.

What is your favorite downtime activity?

What is this “downtime” you speak of? I’m an avid reader, and love traveling – more than ever since the world has reopened.

Who is your biggest celebrity crush?

Emily Blunt – and Farrah Fawcet Majors (I’ve got her hair!)

Who is your favorite sports team(s)?

I’m afraid I don’t do sports. We’re not very good at that in Scotland. lol

What is the last movie that you watched?

Mrs Harris Goes To Paris (brilliant!)

What is the last album you listened to?

Tim Prottey-Jones – my own playlist of his singles.

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Rush – A Farewell To Kings

What is the greatest country song of all time?

Whiskey Lullaby (Brad Paisley w/ Alison Krauss)

What has been your favorite city/town that you’ve visited out on the road?

Glasgow

What is your favorite meal?

Mac n cheese – homemade.

Who is your dream duet partner?

Alison Krauss

Who would you like to go on tour with?

Brad Paisley

What is your ultimate career goal(s)?

To write and perform great songs in great venues – and have them covered by other artists. That would be the ultimate accolade.
