Three years after introducing his mountain-high voice and canyon-deep lyrics with his critically acclaimed debut, Coyote Cry, Wyoming native Ian Munsick has completed an 18-track ode to the American West: his sophomore album White Buffalo is due April 7 on Warner Music Nashville. White Buffalo has already yielded the loping “Horses & Weed,” faith-driven love song “More Than Me” and standout duet “Long Live Cowgirls” with two-time CMA Award winner Cody Johnson. With more than 70 million global streams, “Long Live Cowgirls” has topped SiriusXM The Highway’s Hot 30 Countdown and spawned a 2023 tour of the same name. For this song, that place was the Tongue River. I remember fishing, swimming and rolling down the mountain cold waters in the heat of rodeo season… some of my fondest memories.
