Artist Name:  CJ Land
Hometown:  Templeton, CA

What project(s) are you currently working on?

I have a new album I recorded here in Nashville “Storm Chaser”

What inspired you to pursue a career in music and when did you know?

As a kid my mother was a country singer playing at rodeo events, state fairs, bars and such. I remember watching her as an opening act for Brooks & Dunn and meeting everyone for a second. I was around 12 years old. I thought I should start learning to play the guitar sooner than later. It was in the cards, I don’t think I could have escaped it if I tried.

If you weren’t pursuing a career in music, what would you be doing for a living?

I’ve had more jobs and lived in more places than I can count in order to keep one thing always going, and that’s the music. I’ve always had a natural gift for airbrushing, drawing and creating art, so probably something along those lines.

What is your favorite downtime activity?

Spending time with my two young boys. Being a father is incomparable to anything else a man can do on this planet I believe. It feels like the only way to keep what you have created on this earth, whether that’s a home, or a collection of things to stay together and alive after you’re gone.

Who is your biggest celebrity crush?

I always had a crush on Lauren Cohan (Maggie Greene) from the Walking Dead. She just kicks butt on that show and seems like a real country girl surviving the end of the world.

Who is your favorite sports team(s)?

It was the Washington Redskins…So, I feel lost now with all this memorabilia.

What is the last movie that you watched?

Train Dreams. What a great movie!

What is the last album you listened to?

Waylon Jennings – Songbird

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Marty Robbins – Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs

What is the greatest country song of all time?

Hank Williams – I’m so lonesome I could cry

What has been your favorite city/town that you’ve visited out on the road?

Ethridge, TN     I admire the Amish farms there. It’s my favorite place to buy food in the country with my family.

What is your favorite meal?

brisket

Who is your dream duet partner?

Shooter Jennings, I think he’s one of the few guys that would get what I’m trying to do in a recording studio setting.

Who would you like to go on tour with?

I would enjoy being a solo acoustic act opening up for an artist like Ryan Bingham

What is your ultimate career goal(s)?

Write, record, tour, repeat.
