The 2013 CMA Fest brought $31.5 million in tourism spending this past June, according to Country Aircheck.  This is an increase of $1.5 million over last year, and is $16 million more than the first time it was held downtown in 2001.

“The CMA Music Festival is Nashville’s triple-crown,” says NCVC Pres./CEO Butch Spyridon. “It is the city’s largest festival. It generates the most economic impact and it provides prime time, national network exposure. The event continues to grow and evolve and outperform its record success every year. We are proud to have such a signature event that fits perfectly with our brand in Nashville.”

Next year’s CMA Fest will be held from June 5-8, 2014.

Darius Rucker kicked off CMA Fest week with a golf tournament and benefit concert on Tuesday, June 4th, and raised over $95,000 in doing so!  Participants in the golf tournament included Dierks Bentley, Colt Ford, Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney from Rascal Flatts, JT Hodges, Charles Kelley from Lady Antebellum, Dustin Lynch, Justin Moore, David Nail, Chucks Wicks, and more!  The concert included performances by Luke Bryan, Sam Bush, John Cowan, Randy Houser, Justin Moore, Dustin Lynch, and more!

“I look forward to this event all year long,” shared Rucker.  “I get to share the stage with some of my favorite artists, friends and musical influences.  As much fun as it is,” continues Rucker, “it’s all in the spirit of raising support for St. Jude’s, an organization very dear to my heart.  Getting to sing with Sam Bush and John Cowan from New Grass Revival, one of the bands that made me want to be a country singer, made the night even more amazing for me.” Rucker joined Bush and Cowan for a performance of New Grass Revival’s “Callin’ Baton Rouge.”

The final day of the 2013 CMA Fest was a whirlwind.  I rushed to Fan Fair X to see Billy Dean perform at noon on the Durango Stage before heading down to the media room to interview hot newcomer Maggie Rose.  Check out my interview with her here!

I then went back up to the Fan Fair X for a final flurry of Meet & Greets including Laura Bell Bundy, Bobby Braddock (wrote several big hits including “He Stopped Loving Her Today” and “D-I-V-O-R-C-E”), Sweetwater Rain, Lucy Angel, Leah Seawright, James Wesley, and Cassadee Pope!  I had a nice chat with Bobby Braddock, and hope to have an interview with him soon.

I wrapped the weekend up by checking out Lauren Elise, who is a Featured Artist on our SFCM website, and who was playing at the Gretchen Wilson Fan Club Party!  She did a great job performing with C.J. Conklin as Gretchen Wilson and her entourage watched.  While I went out friends most nights during this trip, I called it an early night this night since I had to pack up and get ready to hit the road the next morning.

Overall it was a great trip full of fun times and great memories made, despite not going to too many concerts.  I can see those back home all the time…the real gem of CMA Fest is the interaction fans get with their favorite stars and spending time with their friends.
