Check out our interview with rising star Kate Ryan!

1.  Hi there!  Would you mind telling our readers a little about yourself and your background?

I began singing (and acting) when I was very young. I’ve hosted countless living room concerts. I was always desperate to be the center of the attention in any crowd. My dad and I were at Disney World when I was 5 or so and we were standing in line and everyone just looked so bored so I went into the middle of the “audience” and I performed an intricate interpretive dance for anyone who would watch and at 3 feet tall, I drew quite a crowd. In 5th grade, my best friend and I decided we wanted to be stand up comedians, so we went around at recess and told jokes. Entertaining has just truly been a part of my nature for as long as I can remember!

2.  You recently released a new single called “Now Revolution.”  Have you had a chance to bring it to any radio stations as part of a radio tour, and if so, how’s the feedback been?

It’s actually such a new single and EP that I haven’t quite gotten that chance yet but I am extremely excited to do just that, particularly to hear the feedback.

3.  How would you describe your style of music within the realms of country music?

This isn’t quiet country by any means. It is raucous. One of my goals is to release songs to blast in a car with all the windows down and sing as loud as possible. I believe this album achieves that perfectly, while also being meaningful and down-to-Earth.

4.  What are some of the goals you’ve set for yourself in your career?

Well traveling is a huge dream of mine, so I think my main goal would be to tour through every continent, except maybe Antarctica. That probably wouldn’t be a very pleasant concert. Another goal would be to sing a duet with Hunter Hayes. He is SO cute, oh my goodness.

5.  What’s been the biggest “Wow” moment in your career so far?

On the day of my album release, the first thing I did when I woke up in the morning was look my album up on iTunes and truly just seeing my picture and name ON iTunes was incredible. It was a “wow” moment for me.

6.  Outside of music, what is something that you are extremely passionate about?

The Earth. Literally the whole thing. It’s our home and it’s been so beautifully and perfectly made. Humankind is making some great strides to save it, which is amazing to witness.

7.  What is the #1 item on your Bucket List?

Ride a hoverboard, for sure. Back to the Future (yes, all 3) is one of my favorite movies so when I found out that they’ve finally invented a real deal hoverboard, I was over the moon.

8.  What are your biggest strengths and weaknesses as an artist?

My biggest strengths as an artist are power and range, which is hopefully evident in the “Now Revolution” EP. I left it all in the studio for every song, truly. I think my weakness as an artist is keeping up with social media. I’m certainly working on it and getting better but at the start, I was horrible! I would disappear for months and months then come back and post like, ten tweets in one day then disappear again. I really think I’ve improved though, thank goodness.

9.  What is your favorite charity to support?

There are so many charities to be passionate about. Recently, I got to lead a singing class with developmentally disabled adults and I had an incredible time doing that. They were so amazing and sweet and I support any charity of that kind. I’m also passionate about the environmental factors involved in causing cancer because cancer has touched my family.

10.  What advice would you to an aspiring artist trying to make a career out of music?

Whatever you do, just remember your love for music. Remember why you started doing what you do in the first place and remember that the essence of music is love. It’s a way to connect with friends, or even strangers on a much deeper level. As long as you keep that in mind, you will never outgrow it and you’ll never stop loving it.

11.  Any final thoughts or comments you’d like for our readers to know about you or your music?

You can find all my social media through my website at kateryan.co. I promise my Twitter and Instagram are pretty good nowadays, haha. My music is on iTunes, Amazon, Soundcloud, and so many more. Thank you so much for reading, listening, hearing, understanding. I truly hope that we can connect through my music and maybe even through Twitter! I love talking to people, particularly about music. Thanks again and stay smiling!
