David Shelby’s new album, “Rust Belt Cowboy,” is scheduled to be released tomorrow, August 6, 2013 via all major retail internet outlets.  The album is a reflection of the sounds of Detroit and Nashville mixed together.

“We wanted to produce this from within– to rely on our own talents and laurels.  We wanted to make the music that we know how to make, so we brought Detroit to Nashville and we pushed one another to make sure the chrome was polished and shined and the lyrics classic to satisfy both cultures in a ‘happily every after’ end product!” says of Shelby about the blending of sounds from two cities.

The tracks on the albums are as follows:

  1. Kick A Little Dirt Around
  2. What Kind of Kiss
  3. Stealing Honey
  4. Your Better Man
  5. Moonshine
  6. Story of Our Lives
  7. Cinderella With A New Tattoo

Some of Shelby’s notable tracks are “Kick A Little Dirt Around,” “Your Better Man,” and “Story of Our Lives.”

Shelby’s debut single, “Kick A Little Dirt Around,” helped him enter the country music scene.  It’s also the first track on the album with an upbeat tune that you might be hearing in your favorite country bar soon since it already has its own line dance.  The song introduces the tone to the rest of the album as a “Let’s have some fun!” kind of album.  To hear the song, the video is below:

“Your Better Man” is a personal song Shelby wrote.  He used it to propose to his wife!  (Which she said, “yes!”)  Shelby says about the song, “It’s about being in love so deep you want to be a better man because she deserves the best you have to give.”

“Story of Our Lives” is all about the chase after the American Dream.  The melody is less rock, and more laid back but the message is very clear; we all have hardships and battles and we are never alone in facing our troubles.
